RedTeam Security's Jeremiah Talamantes was invited to appear on the national news outlet, FOX News Live's Tech Take with Adam Housley, last Thursday afternoon. The story highlighted the rise in cyber attacks against critical infrastructure and a recent report issued by the Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Emergency Response Team; a cybersecurity arm of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
ICS-CERT periodically publishes a newsletter, the Monitor, intended to provide intelligence and guidance for infrastructure asset owners concerning cybersecurity. The Monitor's November/December 2015 edition identified marked increases in attacks along with a change in attack vector toward social engineering.

* 20% increase in attacks over the previous year
* 37% increase in spear-phishing attacks
* Nearly 40% of attacks were classified as "unknown"
